Week 2: Electronic Health Records

  • EHR architecture: how data flows through a health system
  • Interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and why they matter
  • Common clinician pain points and what can realistically be improved

Week 3: AI and Machine Learning Primer

  • What machine learning actually does (and doesn't do)
  • Supervised vs. unsupervised learning, explained without jargon
  • Real clinical use cases: imaging, triage, documentation

Week 4: Telemedicine and Remote Monitoring

  • Virtual care models that work and models that don't
  • Remote patient monitoring: devices, data flows, clinical workflows
  • Regulatory considerations across Canadian provinces

Week 5: Privacy, Security, and Compliance

  • PHIPA and PIPEDA: what clinicians actually need to know
  • HIPAA basics for cross-border work
  • Practical risk assessment for health technology adoption

Week 6: Putting It Together

  • How to evaluate a health tech product: a framework
  • Building a business case for your organization
  • Capstone project presentations and peer feedback
